About the group

We are a small, friendly village Pre-School situated in our own building and grounds adjacent to the village school.  We have a well-equipped indoor space and excellent outdoor facilities with adventure play equipment.

Our Aim is to provide a caring, safe and stimulating environment where children can learn through their play.  Activities to promote and extend the child's learning are available at every session and include paint, sand, water playdough, books, construction toys and puzzles.

We encourage and promote social skills by example.  Aggressive behaviour is discouraged by diverting the energy into a positive activity. Children are encouraged to develop at their own individual pace by caring, supportive and committed staff.

We operate an equal opportunities policy where all children are welcome.  Each child will be treated as an individual, taking into account their own needs.
How the group is run
The group is run by a committee, consisting of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer and other members.  The committee is elected each year at the Annual General Meting, which we hope parents will attend.  Meetings are usually held each term.

The committee employs the playleaders and helpers.  New parents/carers are very welcome to join the committee.  Even if you are not a committee member please feel free to attend the meetings so that you can express your views and ideas.

The Pre-School is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.  It follows their constitution and believes in their underlying principle of "Learn Through Play".
Opening Times
Monday to Friday 9am to 11.30am.  Extended lunch sessions run to 1pm each day.  School term time only.

Children start in the half term of their 3rd birthday and can stay with us until they start school.  There is a maximum of 18 children at each session.
Staff
At each session there are three members of staff, all trained to an appropriate level in childcare and First Aid. Staff work together to provide the best care for each child.
Fees
We are accredited for Government funding for 3 and 4 year olds. Other fees are payable for the extended lunch club.
Parents at Pre-School
Parents are welcome at the Pre-School at any time. You are most welcome to join us at Pre-School to read some stories, help at the computer or sing songs; whatever you would like to do!  It is a good way of seeing for yourself what the children do at Pre-School, the children also have the opportunity to see their own parent/carer in a new role.  Please speak to the staff if you would like to help during a session.
Curriculum
Activities at Pre-School are designed to promote learning and develop childrens' confidence and independence; essential skills for later learning in school. We provide a wide variety of resources for children to explore including role play, painting, play dough, numbers, books, music and singing, cookery, wheeled toys, gardening and a nature area.  Outside visits and walks in our local community all designed to cover the six areas of Early Years Curriculum: personal, social and emotional development, communication, language and literacy, mathematics, creative, physical, knowledge and understanding of the world.  We work towards the early learning goals for the 'foundation stage' of your child's education.
